Bump to Bed

About Bump to Bed

We’re Sam and Erin, and we’re about to become parents. We made Bump to Bed to make reading to our bump easy and something we look forward to, so that it becomes a habit we keep up as our baby grows.

Why we made it

We wanted reading aloud to feel simple: open a story, read for a few minutes, and enjoy it together. So we built a site that’s calm and easy to read, with a night mode and bigger text for reading with a baby in one arm.

We also wanted to know whether reading to a baby really helps, and why. We read the research and the NHS guidance ourselves, and shared what we found on Why read to your baby?

How we make the stories

We aren’t novelists, so we used AI to help us write our own stories. Each story says how it was written in the “About this story” box at the end, so you always know.

We also share classic stories that are now in the public domain, such as Beatrix Potter’s The Tale of Peter Rabbit.

Where the research comes from

Everything on Why read? links to its source, such as the NHS, the American Academy of Pediatrics, BookTrust and published studies. We’re parents-to-be, not health professionals, so this is general information, not medical advice. If you have concerns about your baby’s development, talk to your midwife, health visitor or doctor.

Free, with no account

Every story is free to read. You don’t need an account: your favourites and the stories you’ve read are kept on your device.
